Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone! This is my first blog post of the year and I'm starting the year off right with a look at Molly and Nick's wedding from last Saturday. Although their wedding day was in the teens temperature wise, it was a lovely day with blue skies and sun. I knew right away that I was going to be in for a fun day when I walked in on Molly and her entourage singing to Grease! Her family is so lively, I love it! The emotional side of things kicked off at the beginning of the ceremony when Nick started tearing up at the sight of his beautiful bride walking down the isle. I am proud to say that I made it all the way to the mother-son dance before my tears began haha. There’s just something about country songs that always get me!
I've never been very good at writing (especially spelling!), so I wanted to try something new with my first 2018 couple. I sent Molly and Nick a small questionnaire a few weeks before their wedding that I though you guys might enjoy reading! I thought it would be a great way to get to know them and to better appreciate the love story that led up to this beautiful wedding!
Where / How did you meet? We met at Valparaiso University (where we're getting married) in 2012 and remained best friends for a year before we became “Facebook official” in 2013. We ran on the track team together freshmen year of college and actually found out later that our rooms in Alumni Hall were 222 and 322 – directly one floor away from each other.
Who said, ‘I love you’ first? Nick
What do you like to do on dates? Spend time outside – hiking, kayaking, etc. and eat!
Proposal Story: Nick wasn’t supposed to get the ring he designed for Molly for another couple weeks, but it got done early and their best friends – Gabrielle and Daniel Holston – were visiting them in Cincinnati, so they had a perfect day doing all Molly’s favorite things and showing off their city. That night, they all went to Taft’s Ale House for dinner and drinks and then Nick told everyone he wasn’t feeling well and needed to walk off dinner in a nearby park before they continued with their evening, so they all walked over and Nick sat down on a bench. Molly thought he seriously was not feeling well, so she walked over and sat next to him, feeling very concerned and then she leaned on his arm and said “I love you, Nicky,” and he said, “Not as much as I love you.” And then he got down on one knee. Molly cried A TON and could not say yes, but finally kissed him and then they went home to drink champagne and celebrate!
What was your inspiration while planning your wedding? Our favorite band, the Avett Brothers, have a song called ‘January Wedding,’ which is the inspiration behind the date and the winter wedding. Everything else is unique to us – if we could incorporate our cats or our own taste somehow, we did 😊
What part of marriage are you most looking forward to? Starting our own traditions for holidays and birthdays and introducing each other as “my husband” and “my wife.” 😊
And now for the photos!
